Favourite Photo Friday - 19/6/15

A young lady is turning 4 in just a few short days...... it seems like just the other day I was waddling around and thinking she would never come out to meet us!  This weeks photo Friday, is 5 of my (many) favourite Astrid pics.  One from each of the last four years!

Favourite Photo Friday 5/12/14

Something a little different for my 'Favourite Photo Friday' post this week.......  I can't believe it's yet again the first week of December and the year is almost over, time goes far too quickly!  It seems like not that long ago we were heading back from our 2012 Europe trip, but it was 2 years ago...to the day!  That business class flight back is only a memory now :) Astrid seemed to turn from a baby to a toddler on that trip and we thought she was all grown up, but little did we know.....

Last December we still had a very tiny, and very sleepy, newborn Søren, and big sister Astrid seemed rather grown up all of a sudden.  She was certainly getting in the spirit of Christmas baking and looking after her little brother. Now the formerly tiny Søren is just taking his first steps and his big sister is a little girl, not a toddler anymore.

For fun I've picked just a few of my favourite photos from the first week of December in 2012 and 2013..... a lot has happened since then!

Favourite Photo Friday - 10/10/14

It's only a few days until Søren Augustus turns one!  The year has flown by and he has gone from a tiny newborn to a cheeky, grinning, babbling and mischievous baby.  It seems like only the other day he was all squishy and slept peacefully wherever you put him.

This is one of my favourite photos of him as a newborn......

These days he is more interested in climbing around his cot than sleeping but he is still adorable (lucky for him). I posted the other day about how I love all the cute sleepy things babies do. You can check out that post here (with more cute Søren photos of course).

This would have to be one of my favourite recent pics of him........waking up from his sleep and flashing me those big blue eyes!

Oh how they change in a few short months.......

Which baby is it?

When I was pregnant with Soren I was wondering (as you do) what he might look like. A boy version of Astrid perhaps, or completely different?  I don't look much at all like my 2 siblings. Anto looks similar to his brother but not as similar as some siblings.  I have some friends who have kids who are hard to tell apart, and others that you wouldn't even know are related.

It turns out Soren looks almost identical to Astrid, more boyish, but very, very similar.  Quite a few people have commented that they look similar and I defnitely see a lot of Astrid in him so I've done a little photo comparison.  When I went to pull out photos to compare I thought I'd find quite a few where they look very similar but even I was shocked at how similar they look at the same age!  In several photos it's even hard for me to tell which baby is which and on a few I had to double check who it was.  They are far more similar than several twin pairs I know........ just different sexes and born 2.5 years apart! I could have put any 2 photos of them at the same age and you can see the similarities but with similar poses it's even more striking.

Newborn

When Soren was first born and we were floating around in the bath, Anto and I both looked at him and said 'Wow, he doesn't look at all like Astrid did when she was born'.  Well, about an hour later I started to see more and more of Astrid in him.  When I compared these photos I was pretty shocked at how similar they actually were!

Over their first few weeks they continued to look very similar. I noticed pretty early on they both have similar facial expressions and mannerisms so that seems to make them look even more alike! Soren has a different nose and a slightly different shaped head but it isn't as obviously different as I first thought.

One Month

By one month old they are starting to look less newborn like but the similarities are still striking.

Two Months

No it's not he same baby...... same eyes, same expressions, just the 2011 model and the 2013 model!

Three Months

By 3 months they have both developed some serious personality and Soren is looking very boyish but they still are little clones of each other.  It's funny Astrid always looked like a girl and Soren has always looked like a boy (indepedent of what they are wearing) but they look so similar in photos!

Almost Four Months

At almost four months it still seems like we have a the same baby, just a boy and girl version!  It will be interesting to see if they continue to look so similar as they grow. I'll do another photo comparison in a few months.

Next on the agenda is to compare some baby photos of them with each parent. I know who they look most like, now to find the photographic evidence!

2 months already!

On Friday the 13th Soren turned 2 months! The only thing spooky about it, is how fast the time has gone. It seems only yesterday that he was born.  He is still a very good baby (and damn cute too). I don't know if we just struck it lucky with a great baby or we are just more relaxed second time around. Astrid was a pretty good baby, so it's not like we are comparing apples and oranges but it does seem Soren is exceptionally good. He still doesn't cry very often, and he sleeps and settles well. He is a bit slow in the weight gain department like his sister was but it's less stressful this time as we know what to do about it.

The last few weeks we have been getting massive grins and even the odd giggle. It's extremely cute! He is still quite tiny but has grown a heap since he was born. At birth Soren was 49.5 cm long and 3.77kg. At 2 months he was 56cm long and 4.19kg!  So, not exactly a fatty but he is getting very long. Luckily the weather has warmed up and he can stick his long legs out of all his suits. His favourite things are still baths and cuddles. He is also enjoying time in his bouncer and on his playmat.  You can't beat nappy off time either.

Oh how he has changed in a few short weeks. You don't realise just how quickly they change until you look back at the photos........... Here he is
