Incoming....... pelican!

Last week, when we ventured down to Lake Burley Griffin to visit the swans and find some cygnets we had an unexpected visitor!  We were near Kingston, home to many swans. As we were chatting to the swans a large pelican can zooming in, right in front of us.

Despite visiting the swans at this location many times, we had never seen this pelican before. He was big, boisterous and a little annoyed we didn't have any treats for him.  Luckily Anto had the camera handy and just managed to get these shots off. Shame we didn't get video too!

Here he is floating around after his dramatic entrance........

Just another Winter afternoon at the lake!

Favourite Photo Friday - 1/8/14

A break from Victorian photos this week.  The other day we went down to lake Burley Griffin to find the cygnets Anto had repeatedly ridden past in the previous few weeks.  Of course, no cygnets were to be found (despite him seeing them a couple of hours earlier).  The light on the lake was pretty good though! A lovely Winter afternoon on Lake BG.......
