Favourite Photo Friday - 23/1/15

I've been a bit slack with the photo posting and blogging this week.  When  tidying up all my photos in Lightroom I discovered all the backlog of photos from several years ago that I hadn't properly put into collections or key worded.  Oh around 36,000 of them.  I've been really good at organising photos since about 2011 and good at key wording them since 2012, but before that, well um, not so good!  Of course once I discovered this problem I had to start fixing it.........  still 22,000 to go, but as a result not a lot of posting got done this week.  The cranky teething 15 month old also had something to do with that.........

Speaking of that cranky (but cute) Master Søren, this weeks favourite photo is a little comparison of him now and this time last year.  It seems like just the other day he was this little.  Now he is fully mobile, part monkey and up to all sorts of mischief. They grow up so fast!!!

This time last year...... (3 months)

Which baby is it?

When I was pregnant with Soren I was wondering (as you do) what he might look like. A boy version of Astrid perhaps, or completely different?  I don't look much at all like my 2 siblings. Anto looks similar to his brother but not as similar as some siblings.  I have some friends who have kids who are hard to tell apart, and others that you wouldn't even know are related.

It turns out Soren looks almost identical to Astrid, more boyish, but very, very similar.  Quite a few people have commented that they look similar and I defnitely see a lot of Astrid in him so I've done a little photo comparison.  When I went to pull out photos to compare I thought I'd find quite a few where they look very similar but even I was shocked at how similar they look at the same age!  In several photos it's even hard for me to tell which baby is which and on a few I had to double check who it was.  They are far more similar than several twin pairs I know........ just different sexes and born 2.5 years apart! I could have put any 2 photos of them at the same age and you can see the similarities but with similar poses it's even more striking.

Newborn

When Soren was first born and we were floating around in the bath, Anto and I both looked at him and said 'Wow, he doesn't look at all like Astrid did when she was born'.  Well, about an hour later I started to see more and more of Astrid in him.  When I compared these photos I was pretty shocked at how similar they actually were!

Over their first few weeks they continued to look very similar. I noticed pretty early on they both have similar facial expressions and mannerisms so that seems to make them look even more alike! Soren has a different nose and a slightly different shaped head but it isn't as obviously different as I first thought.

One Month

By one month old they are starting to look less newborn like but the similarities are still striking.

Two Months

No it's not he same baby...... same eyes, same expressions, just the 2011 model and the 2013 model!

Three Months

By 3 months they have both developed some serious personality and Soren is looking very boyish but they still are little clones of each other.  It's funny Astrid always looked like a girl and Soren has always looked like a boy (indepedent of what they are wearing) but they look so similar in photos!

Almost Four Months

At almost four months it still seems like we have a the same baby, just a boy and girl version!  It will be interesting to see if they continue to look so similar as they grow. I'll do another photo comparison in a few months.

Next on the agenda is to compare some baby photos of them with each parent. I know who they look most like, now to find the photographic evidence!

Favourite Photo Friday 7/2/14

This week it's Søren cuteness (again)!  Who can resist a smiley, giggling, 3 month old dressed as a zebra?  He loves to dance and show us his baby aerobics........

January Randomness.......

Apparently it's already February...... what happened to January? It seemed to be one big blur of HOT! Another few weeks of hot weather and the Winter woollies will be coming out, but for now it's just sunny, sweaty, and sticky. Thank goodness our air conditioning was finally fixed the other week.  A couple of months without car aircon or house aircon was very unpleasant.  It was like living in the 80's again!

Astrid and Soren were pleased to have their Dad home for parts of January and we seemed to be busy, busy, busy.  A few trips to the zoo, some bike rides, lots of jobs around the house and the odd visit (or 5) to a cafe and the month was gone.

Here are a collection of random photos from January (most of which I haven't shared before). Astrid 2 years and 7 months & Soren 3 months.

Soren......... Master, I am too cute for words, but damn Mum if I'm going to take my hand out of my mouth long enough for you to take a photo of me!

I now drool so much that my mum had to drag all my sister's dribble bibs out!  Luckily they make me look extra cute, even the pink and flowery ones :)

When he isn't trying to eat his own hand, the next best thing is any form of caterpillar or bunny! Toys, yummy........ thank goodness I have gotten these hand things working to be able to shove those delicious stuffed, fluffy things in my mouth!

Then there was Astrid who now has hair that is long enough for pig tails (albeit very messy ones) and is looking more grown-up every day.  She went to her first movie. Off to 'Frozen' with Dad and managed to sit still for the whole movie and apparently loved it!  She also demanded we take photos of her dancing around in her dressing gown, with my giant bunny and wearing her Fijian 'sulu' while eating watermelon.

She is a bit of a poser when it comes to photos.......  She likes to give me all sorts of silly faces and expressions, luckily she sometimes smiles!

With our annual zoo passes we have already had a couple of trips to the zoo. Astrid has enjoyed her visits, even if most of the animals have been sleeping due to it being so warm. Soren has either slept through most of our visits in the sling or the stroller! I suspect he will be more keen on it later in the year.

Finally, Astrid is still a big fan of baby brother cuddles.  My favourite pictures from the month are here but there seem to be plenty more cute ones. Soren now smiles and giggles whenever he sees Astrid.  He loves her playing with him. I'm sure in a few months when he is stealing her toys the affection may wane a little, but for now they are best friends.  Astrid still tells us she wants to keep him and the other day told me that 'I love Soren, he is my best friend.'  So cute!
